Space City Alumni Chapter Offices
Officers are elected for 1 year terms, and elections are held during the first week of June of each year.
Below is a description of each of the offices of the Space City Houston Alumni Chapter.
President
The president is primarily responsible for the general oversight of the entire
chapter and of each officer. He is responsible for calling meetings and setting
a general agenda for the chapter operations of each year. He is the primary
contact between the Chapter and the National Officers and the Central Office.
Additional duties include the appointment of any committee chairs, and any
other duties as may be prescribed by the Chapter or Board of Directors. The
president is an ex-officio trustee of the Chapter's Endowment Fund.
Executive Vice President
The Executive Vice-President shall succeed to the duties and
powers of the President due to temporary absence, disability or vacancy. The
Executive Vice President also acts as parliamentarian for all Chapter Meetings.
He shall have other duties and powers as may be prescribed in the laws of Delta
Sigma Pi and the Chapter.
Vice President of Marketing & Membership
The Vice President for Marketing and Membership shall
be responsible for ensuring the progressive membership of the Chapter, and for
promoting the benefits of membership. He shall succeed to the duties and powers
of the Executive Vice President in the temporary absence, disability, or
vacancy of the latter. He shall have other duties and powers as may be
prescribed in the laws of Delta Sigma Pi and the Chapter.
Vice President for Philanthropy
The Vice President for Philanthropy shall coordinate and oversee all benevolent
functions of the Chapter. He shall have other duties and powers as may be
prescribed in the laws of Delta Sigma Pi and the Chapter.
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall receive and expend upon duly authorized funds of the
Chapter, and shall keep an accurate account of such funds in the accounting
system of the Chapter. He shall sign all checks issued by the Chapter. It shall
be the further duty of the Treasurer to supply such reports as may be requested
by The Central Office of Delta Sigma Pi. He shall have such other duties and
powers as may be prescribed in the laws of Delta Sigma Pi and the Chapter.
Secretary
The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the Chapter. It shall
be his duty to read into the minutes of the Chapter all official communications
affecting the status of the Alumni Chapter; he shall correspond with The
Central Office of Delta Sigma Pi and the National Officers. It shall be the
further duty of the Secretary to supply such reports as may be requested by The
Central Office of Delta Sigma Pi. He shall have other duties and powers as may
be prescribed in the laws of Delta Sigma Pi and the Chapter.
Historian
The Historian shall keep a historical record of the Chapter and of the entire
membership of the Chapter. He shall have such other duties and powers as may be
prescribed in the laws of Delta Sigma Pi and the Chapter.
Directors
Two (2) individuals are elected as "Directors-at-Large" of the Board of
Directors. They shall be the liaison between the general
chapter membership and the Board of Directors.
They shall carry out other duties and powers as may be
prescribed by the Chapter and/or Board of Directors.
Endowment Fund Trustees
Three individuals shall be selected by the general membership to be the
Trustees of the Space City Alumni Chapter Endowment Fund as held by the Delta
Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation. These individuals shall be primarily
responsible for solicitation of funds for the endowment and assistance to the
Leadership Foundation Trustees in the operations of the fund and selection of
candidates. The trustees shall also be responsible for creating
additional scholarship programs, fund-raising events, scholarship presentation,
and local administration of the fund, including any giving-level programs
that may be prescribed for the fund. The elected president of the chapter
serves as a member of the trustees. Endowment fund trustees are
non-voting members of the Alumni Chapter Board of Directors.
